Cub Scouts
The Cub Scout program is an organization for young boys in first grade, or seven years of age, through fifth grade.  The different levels are as follows:
First Grade:..... Tiger Cubs
Second Grade:...... Wolf Cubs
Third Grade:...... Bear Cubs
Fourth Grade:...... Webelos 1
Fifth Grade:...... Webelos 2

Tiger Cubs meet twice per month, once for a den meeting to do an activity from their book, and once for a “go-see-it”.  The Wolves, Bears, and Webelos usually meet twice a month to do activities from their books to earn badges.  All of the groups meet once per month for a Pack meeting where each den can show the entire pack what they have been working on that month.  Awards that the boys have earned are handed out so they can enjoy the recognition of the entire pack.  This is also a time to share upcoming events.  Pack 419 can also help current and future scouts get in touch with other troops in the area if they would like to join those troops.

Girl Scouts
The Girl Scout program has four fundamental goals.  These serve as the foundation for all activities.  Each girl shall:

  • Develop to her full individual potential.
  • Relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect.
  • Develop values to guide her actions and provide the foundation for sound decision-making.
  • Contribute to society through the use of her abilities and leadership skills, working in cooperation with others.

Girl Scout leaders decide how often, when, and where their troop will meet.  Girls between the ages of five and seventeen are eligible to join.  Leaders can be women or men over the age of eighteen.  A girl does not need to belong to a troop to be a Girl Scout.  She can register individually and participate in special events when she has time.  Girl Scout leaders can help people get in touch with other troops in the area if a girl would like to be a member of those troops.

Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is a week-long program that takes place usually during July.  The goal of VBS is to teach the children about God’s great love for all of us.  There is a different theme every year to help us achieve our goal and make it fun for all involved.  Children four years old through seventh grade may attend VBS.  Teen helpers need to have finished seventh grade and may work for service hours.  There is plenty to do, so adult helpers are always needed.  Planning usually starts early in the year.
